Knowledge & Memory

MapleOS separates grounded knowledge from longer-lived memory so users can keep context useful without making it invisible.

Knowledge

Your private libraries for grounded answers.

  • Built from documents, notes, and materials you intentionally provide.
  • Useful when you want answers tied to your own sources.
  • Often paired with citations or source-aware responses so you can inspect where the answer came from.

Sealed Memory

Longer-lived context that stays opt-in.

  • Best for durable preferences or recurring context you want MapleOS to remember.
  • Should remain under your control, especially for sensitive or evolving work.
  • Useful when continuity matters, but not required for MapleOS to be effective.

Plain-language guidance

If you want the assistant to answer from your documents, use knowledge. If you want the system to remember patterns over time, consider memory. They solve different problems.

When citations or source references are available, turn them on for higher-trust workflows. They help you verify what grounded the response, which is especially helpful for research, policy, and team handoffs.
