I've got a secret for you CanXP.ai Community ;)
We've been quietly testing our Microsoft Office Add-in aptly named CanXP AI Office Assistant
This is strictly alpha testing. If you break your Microsoft Office application you may need to repair or reinstall the application.
If you are interested in trying out out our Office Assistant before it's official launch you can do so by following these instructions. These instructions should work with the most recent versions of Microsoft including Office 2019/22/24.
You will need to Sideload the Add-in because we are currently not live on Microsoft yet.
To sideload an add-in for Microsoft Word, open Word, go to the Home tab on the ribbon, select Add-ins, then More Settings (or My Add-ins), and finally choose Upload My Add-in. From there, browse to and select your add-in's manifest file to upload it.
Please note these instructions are only needed to Sideload our alpha version of our Microsoft Office Add-in and official installation will be via Microsoft Office Marketplace.
Step-by-step Sideloading Instructions
Download CanXP AI's Office Add-in xml (Right-click Save-As) from: https://canxp.ai/office/manifest.xml
Open Word: and open any document.
On the ribbon, go to the Home tab.
Select Add-ins.
In the drop-down menu, select More Settings (or My Add-ins if you see it directly).
In the Office Add-ins dialog box, select Upload My Add-in.
Browse: your computer to find the add-in's manifest file you downloaded to your computer.
Select the manifest file and click Upload.
Your add-in should now be visible and available for use within Word.
Microsoft publishes official instructions here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/dev/add-ins/testing/sideload-office-add-ins-for-testing
An important note about sideloading Add-ins from our experience: Standalone Installs of Microsoft Office require using special sideloading techniques if your version of Microsoft Word does not have the ability to load the Add-in using the provided instructions.
Microsoft Office 365 appears to be easier to load the Add-in most of the time.
If you have issues please post them here. This is not an official release so please bare with us while we work out any issues.
You can use our Add-in alongside Microsoft Copilot or you can disable Copilot and just use our Add-in for true Canadian data-protection.
Vince and I were testing this last week. For a first build it worked quite well. A few more features need to be added but overall I was very happy with it. It is not nearly as invasive as other products. I love the real time suggestions while writing. It doesn't feel bad at all. I can take or reject whatever I want easily. Has rich text formatting out of the box. Overall plugs directly into the web application.
@Ken and @Jess thought I'd drop by and let you both know I was able to get the Add-in working on MS Office 2021 without much issue.
You are right Ken about the implementation. It is very subtle and not nearly as annoying as some of those ghost writers out there.
Looking forward to the finalized version.
